Hello and thank you for your consideration to donate your time to Chicken Alley in support of our community and Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS). Chicken Alley Thrift Shop is one of the largest streams of ongoing financial support for MVCS. It is a beloved hidden gem amongst Islanders and visitors alike. The Thrift Shop is successful because of the contributions of many. Staffed in part by an ‘army’ of volunteers, we are always looking for recruits. Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) is a social service umbrella organization. We house an array of services to meet the needs of our community: ● Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Services ● Disability Services ● Youth and Family Services ● Mental Health Services ● Veterans Services ● Chicken Alley Thrift Shop Donations made to and sold by Chicken Alley Thrift Shop ensure that we can keep our promise to be there for everyone who needs us, whenever they need us, regardless of ability to pay. Proceeds from Chicken Alley will help to sustain and enlarge this safety net for families and make a real difference in the quality of life on the Island we share.

Chicken Alley’s mission is to provide funding for the vital programs and services of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services through affordable, sustainable shopping. We are committed to creating a welcoming space that fosters connection, reduces waste, and empowers individuals to make a positive impact through every donation, purchase, and act of volunteerism. JOB SUMMARY: The role of the volunteer is to assist with preparing donations for sale, providing excellent service and helping with Chicken Alley’s day to day operations. The Volunteer's responsibilities include completing tasks assigned by the supervisor, upholding the values of MVCS and maintaining a high degree of professionalism with all donors, customers and agency clients.
