Who We Are

IGI began in 2006, and is now run by 30 staff people, a 16-member Board of Directors, and 300 dedicated volunteers.

What We Do

At Island Grown Initiative, we work to build a strong local food system for all on Martha's Vineyard. Our programs now touch the lives of most of the people who live on our island, through our farm to school program in all island schools, food access programs, and 42-acre regenerative farm. Volunteers power our work at our Island Food Pantry, our prepared meals kitchen, harvesting fresh food on local farms with our gleaning program, and more.
